Private cultural journey
About this Journey
Embark on a wonderful two-day private journey through Chengdu, where adorable giant pandas, profound historical heritage and laid-back local lifestyle blend perfectly. Start your early morning adventure to meet fluffy pandas before crowds gather, then dive into legendary Three Kingdoms stories at Wuhou Shrine and wander through time-honored ancient streets to appreciate traditional folk arts.
Slow down to embrace the authentic Chengdu pace of life, taste classic jasmine tea in a century-old teahouse, and explore serene old alley courtyards. Witness the perfect fusion of ancient temples and trendy modern commercial districts, and end your trip with a stunning Sichuan opera show featuring amazing face-changing acts.

The first day starts early at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, when the pandas are usually most active, then turns to the Three Kingdoms history of Wuhou Shrine and the traditional crafts and food lanes of Jinli Ancient Street.

The second day follows Chengdu's slower rhythm through People's Park, Kuanzhai Alleys, and the contrast between Daci Temple and the modern Taikoo Li district. A Sichuan opera performance closes the route with face-changing, fire-spitting, music, and regional stage traditions.

Over two days, early-morning panda viewing, Three Kingdoms history, teahouse life, old courtyards, and Sichuan opera reveal why Chengdu’s cultural landmarks and unhurried daily rhythm belong in the same journey.
Itinerary
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Giant pandas, Wuhou Shrine and Jinli Ancient Street
Meet the guide at the hotel and drive to the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding early in the morning. Walk through the Moonlight Nursery and adult panda areas while the animals are active, and continue through the red-panda habitat with time to learn about breeding, conservation, diet, and behaviour.
After lunch, explore Wuhou Shrine and its stories of Zhuge Liang, Liu Bei, and the Three Kingdoms period. Continue on foot into Jinli Ancient Street, where restored courtyards, snack stalls, sugar painting, shadow puppetry, and small craft workshops introduce Sichuan folk traditions before the return transfer to the hotel.

Day 2: People's Park, Kuanzhai Alleys, Taikoo Li and Sichuan opera
Begin in People's Park at the century-old Heming Teahouse. Sit beside local tea drinkers, taste jasmine tea, and observe the morning routines around the park before continuing to Kuanzhai Alleys for Qing-style courtyards, side lanes, silk workshops, and small galleries.
In the afternoon, walk between the modern IFS and Taikoo Li district and the older Daci Temple precinct, seeing how contemporary Chengdu grew around inherited urban spaces. Finish with a Sichuan opera performance featuring face-changing, fire-spitting, music, and regional stagecraft, followed by the private return transfer.
