This two-day journey connects the defining chapters of Nanjing's history. Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling, the Confucius Temple, Nanjing Museum, Zhonghua Gate, and the Qinhuai River reveal a former capital shaped by imperial rule, scholarship, modern politics, and one of China's most complete city walls.
The opening day traces Nanjing's role in modern and imperial history, from Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and the Ming founder's tomb at Ming Xiaoling to the Confucius Temple and lantern-lit Qinhuai River district.
The second day focuses on the collections of Nanjing Museum and the engineering of Zhonghua Gate and the Ming city wall. Together, the two days connect royal burial traditions, scholarship, archaeology, urban defence, and the living streets of the former capital.
Seen in sequence, the mausoleums on Purple Mountain, the museum collections, Zhonghua Gate, and the Qinhuai River trace how imperial history, scholarship, and modern politics continue to shape Nanjing today.

Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Ming Xiaoling and the Qinhuai River
Meet the guide at the hotel or railway station and travel to Purple Mountain. Climb the ceremonial steps of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, then continue through the forested Sacred Way and stone guardians of Ming Xiaoling, the tomb complex built for the founder of the Ming dynasty.
In the afternoon, explore the Confucius Temple and the lanes beside the Qinhuai River. Temple halls, examination culture, traditional shops, local snacks, bridges, and evening lanterns reveal how this historic district remains part of daily Nanjing life before the return to the hotel.
Day 2: Nanjing Museum, Zhonghua Gate and the Ming city wall
Begin at Nanjing Museum with its collections of archaeology, imperial porcelain, paintings, textiles, and everyday objects from Jiangsu. The guided route selects key galleries to build a clear chronological picture instead of attempting to cover the entire museum at once.
Continue to Zhonghua Gate, the largest surviving castle-style gate in Nanjing's Ming wall. Walk through its layered courtyards and onto the ramparts for views across old neighbourhoods and the modern city, then transfer to the airport or railway station for departure.
