Private cultural journey
About this Journey
Step into Chongqing, China’s legendary “3D Magic City,” where soaring bridges, hillside trails, and glowing riverfronts create a cityscape like no other. Over four days, discover the blend of tradition and modernity—historic guild halls, old streets, and mountain trails alongside futuristic light rails, dazzling skyscrapers, and buzzing night markets. Ride the Yangtze River Cableway high above glittering waters, wander Shibati’s nostalgic steps, and savour fiery hotpot in the birthplace of spice. This journey is not only about sightseeing but about feeling the rhythm of Chongqing’s unique vertical life, where every corner offers a new perspective.

Chongqing's vertical geography drives this four-day route. An arrival evening around Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave is followed by the Three Gorges Museum, Huguang Guild Hall, Longmenhao Old Street, and the Yangtze River Cableway.

The final sightseeing day is explored largely on foot, linking the Mountain City Trail, Shibati, Liziba's building-crossing monorail, and the former printing works at Eling Second Factory. River viewpoints, steep stairways, old neighbourhoods, and contemporary creative districts reveal why the city feels built in three dimensions.

Moving between guild halls, hillside streets, elevated rail, river crossings, night markets, and illuminated waterfronts shows how Chongqing’s history and daily life have adapted to its steep, layered terrain.
Itinerary
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Chongqing, Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave
Meet the private transfer at the airport or railway station and continue to the hotel for check-in. In the late afternoon, walk through Jiefangbei and Bayi Food Street for a first introduction to Chongqing's commercial centre, spicy noodles, small snacks, and hotpot culture.
Continue after dark to Hongya Cave and cross Qiansimen Bridge on foot. The illuminated stilt-style buildings, layered roads, river traffic, and steep hills reveal the three-dimensional cityscape before the return to the hotel.

Day 2: Three Gorges Museum, Huguang Guild Hall and Yangtze Cableway
Begin at the Chongqing China Three Gorges Museum, using its Ba-Yu archaeology, Three Gorges displays, wartime history, bronzes, and folk collections to understand the region. Cross the square to view the Great Hall of the People and its monumental reinterpretation of traditional palace architecture.
Continue to Huguang Guild Hall, where carved wooden halls and courtyards tell the story of migration into Chongqing, then walk through Longmenhao Old Street and its former treaty-port buildings. Finish after dark on the Yangtze River Cableway and at Jiangbeizui Riverside Park for views over the two rivers and city bridges.

Day 3: Mountain City Trail, Shibati, Liziba and Eling Second Factory
Follow the Mountain City Trail through stone stairs, hanging paths, old walls, hidden courtyards, and neighbourhoods built directly into the hillside. Continue to Shibati, once the main link between Chongqing's upper and lower towns, to see restored teahouses, craft spaces, and the steep street pattern.
After lunch, watch the monorail pass through a residential building at Liziba Station, then continue to Eling Second Factory. The former printing complex now contains studios, small exhibitions, and elevated viewpoints across the dense city and river valleys.

Day 4: Chongqing breakfast and departure
Begin with a bowl of Chongqing xiaomian and observe how the city's characteristic chilli oil, pepper, greens, and noodles are assembled for the morning rush. Return to the hotel afterward for packing and check-out.
Meet the private vehicle at the agreed time and transfer to Chongqing airport or railway station. Pickup is planned around the confirmed onward service so the journey ends with enough time for check-in and departure formalities.
