Private cultural journey
About this Journey
Spend four days exploring Xi'an as both an archaeological capital and a living city. The route connects the Terracotta Warriors and Huaqing Palace with the city wall, Yongxingfang, Xi'an Museum, Daci'en Temple, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Muslim Quarter, and Great Tang Everbright City after dark.

Xi'an's old-city centre provides an easy introduction on arrival, with the Bell and Drum Towers, the Muslim Quarter, and evening streets inside the city wall. The next day moves east to the Terracotta Warriors and the gardens and historic bathing pools of Huaqing Palace.

The final sightseeing day returns to the fortified centre for the city wall, Yongxingfang, Xi'an Museum, Daci'en Temple, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and Great Tang Everbright City after dark. Archaeology, food culture, architecture, and public performance together show Xi'an as a living city as well as an ancient capital.

Archaeological sites and imperial monuments are balanced with the city wall, food streets, museum collections, temple grounds, and the Tang-style nightscape, presenting Xi’an as a living city as well as an ancient capital.
Itinerary
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Xi'an and explore the old-city centre
Meet the private transfer at Xi'an airport or railway station and continue to a centrally located hotel. After check-in and a short rest, begin with Bell and Drum Tower Square inside the old city walls.
Continue into the Muslim Quarter, where food stalls, family shops, mosques, and busy lanes introduce the city's long connection with Silk Road trade. Remain as the towers light up after dark, then return to the hotel.

Day 2: Terracotta Warriors and Huaqing Palace
Travel east of Xi’an to the Qin Shi Huang Imperial Tomb Museum. Explore the principal archaeological displays and see ranks of life-size warriors, horses, and chariots created for China’s first emperor. Learn how the figures differ in rank and expression, how the pits were discovered, and why excavation and conservation continue decades after the first finds.
After the museum visit, take part in a clay-warrior workshop. Shape a small figure by hand and keep the finished piece as a personal reminder of the day.
Continue to Huaqing Palace at the foot of Mount Li. Walk through landscaped courtyards and historic bathing-pool areas while hearing stories associated with the Tang court and the palace’s long imperial history. The quieter garden setting provides a contrast to the scale of the morning’s archaeological site before you return to Xi’an.

Day 3: Xi'an City Wall, museums, Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Tang nightscape
Start on Xi’an’s Ming-era city wall, one of the best places to understand the rectangular plan of the old capital. Walk a substantial section of the ramparts, pausing at gates and watchtowers for views over both the historic centre and the modern city. Pause for a simple tea break near the wall and watch the daily rhythm of the surrounding neighbourhood.
Continue to Yongxingfang, where regional food stalls and cultural displays introduce flavours from across Shaanxi. Sample local specialities during the visit, then watch a short shadow-puppetry presentation in the cultural area.
In the afternoon, visit Xi’an Museum for a broader view of the city’s development and the dynasties that made it an imperial capital. Then continue toward Daci’en Temple and the Big Wild Goose Pagoda area before nightfall. As the evening lights come on, walk through Great Tang Everbright City, a broad pedestrian district where illuminated architecture, public performances, and Tang-inspired displays create a lively finish to the day.

Day 4: Xi'an breakfast and departure
Begin with a final walk around Bell Tower Square and the nearby food streets, tasting a simple Shaanxi breakfast such as roujiamo, liangpi, or a warm local noodle dish. Return to the hotel afterward for packing and check-out.
Meet the private vehicle at the agreed time and transfer to Xi'an airport or high-speed railway station. Pickup is planned around the confirmed onward service so the route ends with enough time for check-in and departure formalities.
