Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Longji Rice Terraces & Minority Villages
Leave the Guilin hotel around 8:30 a.m. and travel by private vehicle into the mountains of Longsheng. The drive reaches the entrance to the Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area in the late morning, where the road begins to climb through forested valleys and hillside villages.
Begin at Huangluo Yao Village, known for the long-hair traditions of local Red Yao women. Walk through the riverside settlement and learn about the community's clothing, architecture, festivals, and relationship with the surrounding terraces.
Continue to Ping'an Zhuang Village for a two- to three-hour walk on stone paths through the rice fields. The route reaches classic viewpoints such as Seven Stars with the Moon and Nine Dragons and Five Tigers, revealing how generations of farmers built and maintained terraces across the steep slopes.
Pause for a local farmhouse lunch featuring regional dishes such as bamboo-tube rice and free-range chicken. After the final viewpoints, descend to meet the vehicle and return to Guilin in the late afternoon.
