Itinerary

Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Guiyang

Arrive at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport or Guiyang North Railway Station and continue to the confirmed hotel. The transfer is arranged around the supplied flight or train details.

Keep the remainder of the day unhurried, with time to settle in and take a short walk near the hotel. The cultural journey begins the following morning with the drive toward Danzhai and Shiqiao Village.

Day 2: Shiqiao Papermaking & Xijiang Miao Village

Travel to Shiqiao Village and enter a traditional paper workshop built into a limestone setting. A local paper-making artisan demonstrates how plant fibres and flower petals are prepared, pressed, and dried before each traveler creates a sheet of floral paper.

Continue to Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in the afternoon. Walk through the lanes, visit a costume workshop and the village museum, and learn how silver ornament, clothing, timber architecture, and festivals express Miao identity.

As dusk approaches, rise to the village overlook and watch the lights appear across the hillside homes. Return to the village after the panorama for the confirmed evening meal and overnight stay.

Day 3: Xijiang Dawn & Kongbai Silverwork

Begin with the early light over Xijiang, when smoke rises from the timber houses and the surrounding terraces are still quiet. Walk selected village paths and viewpoints before leaving for Kongbai, a settlement known for Miao silverwork.

At Kongbai Village, work with a local silversmith to forge a six-gram silver keepsake. The artisan introduces the tools, hammering techniques, and decorative patterns used in Miao silverwork before guiding the practical session.

Continue toward Fanjing Mountain after the workshop and settle into the confirmed lodging near the scenic area. The evening is reserved for rest before the next morning’s ascent.

Day 4: Fanjing Mountain & Zhenyuan Ancient Town

Ascend Fanjing Mountain through forest known for its rare plant and animal life. Continue toward Mushroom Stone and the Red Cloud Golden Summit, using the confirmed shuttle, cable car, and walking route operating that day.

After descending, travel to Zhenyuan Ancient Town and climb Shiping Mountain for a view over the Wuyang River and the roofs of the old town. The river’s curves and the dense historic settlement provide a marked contrast with the high mountain scenery.

Return to the riverfront after the viewpoint and spend the evening walking beside the Wuyang River before resting in Zhenyuan.

Day 5: Zhenyuan to Zhaoxing Dong Village

Leave Zhenyuan for Zhaoxing Dong Village, one of the largest Dong communities in China. Walk among the timber homes, flower bridges, and five drum towers that organize the village into distinct neighbourhoods.

Spend the afternoon learning how the bridges and towers function as places for meetings, music, and daily conversation. The visit focuses on the village as a living community rather than a collection of isolated monuments.

As evening falls, join the confirmed long-table feast beneath the lanterns. Local dishes, songs, and communal seating provide a direct introduction to Dong hospitality before the overnight stay.

Day 6: Xiage Terraces, Batik Workshop & Return to Guiyang

Travel by local shuttle to Xiage Dong Village and begin with a walk through the surrounding rice terraces. Continue into the village for a batik workshop covering wax application, indigo dyeing, and the patterns used on traditional Dong cloth.

Return to Zhaoxing after the workshop and collect the luggage before the road journey to Guiyang. The return route allows enough time for a rest stop and the changing scenery between the village valleys and provincial capital.

Finish at Guiyang Longdongbao International Airport, Guiyang North Railway Station, or the confirmed central drop-off point. The precise drop-off is agreed before travel and does not alter the fixed sightseeing programme.
