About this Journey
Zhangjiajie and Fenghuang combine sandstone peaks, cliffside paths, mountain transport, live performance, and a riverside ancient town in one four-day route.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park provides the first full day of mountain scenery, including Tianzi Mountain, Yuanjiajie, and the Bailong Elevator.
Tianmen Mountain follows with its long cableway, Heaven’s Gate, plank roads, and glass skywalk before the journey continues to the evening lights of Fenghuang Ancient Town.
The route returns from Fenghuang to Zhangjiajie for departure. Cableways, mountain paths, performances, and boat access remain subject to weather and local operations.
Itinerary
Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Zhangjiajie
Arrive at Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport or the railway station and transfer to Wulingyuan. Check in at the confirmed hotel close to the national-park area.
Keep the remainder of the day light, with time to rest and take a short walk near the hotel. The mountain programme begins the following morning with the cable-car ascent to Tianzi Mountain.
Day 2: The Vertical World of Zhangjiajie: Zhangjiajie National Forest Park – Tianzi Mountain – Yuanjiajie
Enter Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and ascend by cable car to Tianzi Mountain. Walk the principal viewpoints for Emperor Brush Peak, Fairy Scattering Flowers, and the Western Sea Peak Forest, where sandstone pillars rise above the ravines.
Continue by park vehicle to Yuanjiajie and follow the open paths to the First Bridge Under Heaven, Hallelujah Mountain, and Mihun Stage. Descend by the Bailong Elevator, using the glass lift for a final vertical view of the pillar landscape.
Finish with the included Chinese tea tasting before attending the evening Charming Xiangxi performance. Song, dance, and regional folklore complete the full day in Wulingyuan.
Day 3: Tianmen Mountain & Fenghuang Ancient Town
Begin at Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park and ride the long cableway toward the summit area. Continue to Tianmen Cave, the cliffside escalator, Ghost Valley Plank Road, and the glass skywalk, following the sections open on the confirmed day.
Descend from the mountain and travel by road to Fenghuang Ancient Town. After arrival, take a boat along the Tuo River and view Wanming Pagoda, riverside stilt houses, stone gates, and the historic Shawan area.
Remain in Fenghuang after sunset to walk the illuminated lanes and bridges. The day ends in the ancient town after the river and evening programme.
Day 4: Fenghuang Morning & Departure via Zhangjiajie
Spend the morning walking through Fenghuang Ancient Town, including the East and North City Gates, Wanming Pagoda, Shawan, and Hongqiao Art Tower. The quieter morning hours provide time to see the timber buildings and riverfront before the return journey.
Leave Fenghuang by road and travel back to Zhangjiajie. At the confirmed time, continue to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport or the railway station for departure.
The four-day route concludes at the selected Zhangjiajie transport hub, with the pickup time aligned to the supplied onward schedule.
